PREMIUM EQUIPMENT OPENS NEW-DOORS FOR YOUNG BUSINESS OWNER

With the $13 billion Bruce Highway Upgrade Program, between Cairns and Brisbane, being the largest road infrastructure program Queensland has ever seen, it aims to make travelling safer, more reliable, and improve flood resilience for North Queensland. Currently working on the $481M Edmonton to Gordonvale section of the upgrade, Wyatt Bartram Excavations has been putting in long hours to ensure its timely completion.

Waking up at 4am and home by 8pm, seven days a week, owner operator, Wyatt Bartram says he loves every minute of it and wouldn’t change it for the world. At only 22, Wyatt has a wealth of knowledge about the earthmoving industry, as a biproduct of his grandfather’s earthmoving business – Errol Pearson Backhoe Bobcat Hire. “Every day after school, I’d be doing something with machinery. I enjoyed being surrounded by it,” he explains.

Wyatt Bartram stands proudly in front of his superior equipment.

Growing up in the world of earthmoving, Wyatt learnt the importance of using superior equipment from his father and Pops. “The clear message from both was that every second counts as an owner operator. We only used gear we could rely on,” explains Wyatt. “They absolutely raved about Doherty’s attachments and used them religiously. In fact, I’ve never used a machine without a Doherty hitch of some sort!”

Fully Tier-One Compliant to Australian Standards, Wyatt Bartram Excavations, operate a Case CX145csr 14 Ton Excavator with an offset boom, and Trimble Earthworks System GPS. This is accompanied with a Doherty D-Lock standard coupler and tilt bucket, and Wyatt’s most recent edition, the D-Lock NOX Tiltrotator.

NOX (3d render) – the NOX Tiltrotator has a 360° continuous rotation and tilting angles of 2 x 50°, and comes standard with the Doherty D-Lock.

Wyatt’s imagination was captured when he saw a social media post by Earthmoving Equipment Australia on the D-Lock NOX Tiltrotator. “When I saw that post on the NOX, I could immediately see the benefits I’d get for my business. I knew I had to get one!”

In fact, it’s the NOX Tiltrotator’s 50-degree tilt each way and 360-degree continuous rotation that’s allowed Wyatt’s excavation business to branch out into more detailed excavation projects. “It’s not until you’re sitting in the cab, that you really appreciate the increased versatility of my machine. It’s really opened new avenues for my business, specifically rail works.”

With the Edmonton to Gordonvale section of the Bruce Highway upgrade due for completion mid-2023, Wyatt’s decision to use superior technology has opened-up additional work avenues. With these opportunities on the horizon, Wyatt says all new excavators added to his fleet will have the same innovative technology to streamline business efficiencies.

“Combining the D-Lock hitch with the NOX has been an absolute game-changer. I’m doing the same amount of work in a fraction of the time; I can’t imagine using anything else on my machines.”
