Economy breakthrough for JCB telehandlers

Australian Earthmoving Magazine News:

JCB Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) has released the new range of JCB Loadall telehandlers, equipped with the revolutionary JCB EcoMax T4i/Stage IIIB engines, delivering fuel savings of up to 15 per cent.

“This new line provides many advantages for operators, specifically significant fuel savings, but also a smoother ride from enhanced transmission and hydraulics configurations.” said Greg Sealey, JCB CEA National Telehandler Product Manager.

“A new level of efficiency is achieved partially from the T4i engine, but also from an improved regenerative hydraulics system that reduces the boom retraction and lowering time as well as fuel consumption.”

To ensure the new line was equipped to handle Australia’s harsh conditions, several units were trialled with customers prior to the decision to offer the upgraded machines nationally.

“The feedback we have received from those trials is overwhelmingly positive towards the upgraded machines,” said Greg.

“Initially customers weren’t too concerned with fuel economy, but with reports of savings from 10 – 15 per cent and no loss of power, they really started to see the benefits.”

Another improvement customers of the trial noticed was the overall ease of use of the machine.
“The gear selector is on the joystick now, making it a lot easier to operate. And the Smooth Ride System is also easier to use as it can be engaged with the boom in any position, automatically engaging when travelling above 7kph.

There have been other subtle changes in the model upgrade. The hydraulic pipes on the lift/lower and extend/retract circuits have been increased from 1/2” to 5/8” BSP, reducing pressure loss and increasing efficiency.

A pressure release switch in the auxiliary circuit allows venting of the front or rear auxiliary functions, reducing the time taken to change attachments.

Hydraulic damping is now standard on the boom extension and lift functions and assists with load retention while also improving operator comfort and the new 7-speed fan on the air conditioner makes the new range of JCB Loadall telehandlers some of the coolest in the country.

“We are always talking to farmers and customers in our area on what they’re looking for in a machine and what they feel needs improvement. The Loadall upgrades are answering what the industry’s looking for,” said Greg.
